9 Years... Why I Keep Going 🐈⬛🔮🔥

The morning light was shining through my studio window and I was sitting crossed legged on the wood floor flipping through all my past Spirit Cats Calendars. It was late spring and I was just starting to think about making my 9th one. That's 108 Spirit Cats painted in watercolor by hand at my desk and 108 magical messages written in cafes and in my garden. Honestly, it felt hard to believe. I found myself contemplating why I had continued this project for so long, year after year. When I first started painting these magical cats back in 2014, I had no idea how rich, layered and healing the Spirit Cats world would become for me. I was excited to meet these kitties in my freeform intuitive painting sessions and noticed that they started coming through with names, healing energies and messages. A year in, I realized I had actually been making an oracle deck all along. In 2016, I published my Spirit Cats Oracle Deck with 48 cats. True to a kitty's nature, this deck snuck into my life quietly and then pounced dramatically, surprising me and changing my whole world. Even though the deck was complete, the Spirit Cats just kept pouring in and I was endlessly fascinated to meet them in my paintings. Each one showed up just when I needed their unique energetic medicine most. By the fall of 2018, I knew I wanted to share these new magical meows with you all. I wasn't ready to make another oracle deck but I love how oracle decks allowed you to have a whole collection of art, much more than you could hang on your walls. Plus, the oracle deck is inherently interactive, inspiring a quiet moment of communion with your inner world, the art and your intuition. How beautiful! It occurred to me that a calendar had a similar quality. In the wall space of one artwork, a calendar gives you 12 artworks AND if I wove in healing messages similar to what you would find on an oracle card, it would elevate the calendar to a magical guide through your year. Perhaps, I thought, people would even experience synchronicities between the monthly messages and their life just like they do when they draw an oracle card. When you all started sharing these synchronicities with me I was both surprised and not surprised because I create these calendars using intuitive channeling so something bigger than my creative mind is at play and that brings in magic beyond my comprehension. As I moved through 2019 with my very first Spirit Cats Calendar, I fell in love with flipping the pages to the new month, meeting the new kitty and basking in her energy. Her message would inspire me and bring me into balance all month long. Originally, I thought I would only make the one calendar. However, I soon realized that I didn't want to go into the next year without my Spirit Cat companions by my side bringing their playful, loving, and enchanting energies into my life. So really, I made that second calendar because I didn't want to live without it. :) I have been delighted to find that many of you have come back year after year to get your Spirit Cats Calendar as well. It has become a magical tradition that means so much to many of us and I am honored to be a part of that. It has evolved over the years to become even more rich and interactive. A few years back, I added the channeled message for the year and the weekly affirmations which many of you work with in your journals and with your friends and partners. I have loved hearing about how my Spirit Cats Calendar has created intentional moments with friends and families when you read the monthly messages and weekly affirmations together to ritualize the month and the week bringing in a moment of collective inspiration and reflection. I know there are some of you who have bought a Spirit Cats Calendar every year since the beginning and framed the artwork when the year was over. You have shared pics with me of rooms filled with Spirit Cat art and it warms my heart! Really I keep going because I always want a place for the new Spirit Cats to come and work their magic on us, delight us and inspire us through our ups and downs and through our mundane moments and peak experiences. I LOVE the ritual of working with my Spirit Cats Calendar throughout the year and I know many of you do too. I keep creating them for us all, so we will always have a Spirit Cat companion by our side softening the hard edges of life with their fluffy cuteness.
