In one of my favorite books from my teens, "Island" by Aldous Huxley, the wild birds have been trained to say "Attention! Here and now!" so that the island's inhabitants would have constant reminders to awaken to the present moment and break free of thought loops, future worries and past ruminations. I wouldn't officially learn and start practicing meditation for another 6 or 7 years but I loved this concept. Growing up in the forest, I knew the feeling of walking among the trees fully aware of the wind rustling the leaves, watching the sunbeams flicker through the branches and illuminate little patches of green moss and mushrooms below. I emulated my cat's curious and alert explorations through the woods, following him to hidden spots and laying on sun-baked rocks nestled among the towering sumac. I also knew what it felt like to get so lost in thought spirals and worries that everything seemed to disappear around me. I envisioned those birds from Huxley's "Island" continually waking me back up to the magical world in all its rich strangeness. I can imagine my art print of "The Firebird and the Lynx" serving as a visual version of Huxley's birds in your home. The fluorescent-tinged sunset colors make our brains tingle into glittering attention. They call us out of our grey, repetitive thought loops returning us to the magic of life right here, right now. The firebird with her luminous feathers feels like our burning, transcendent desires, the very longings of our Soul. Our passions ignite our inner fire, our love of life. It is pure and unbridled vitality. The firebird calls us to wake up and come alive with our truest passions. The leaping-or-is-that-flying lynx reminds us that when we follow the call of our soul's desires, we are carried beyond our ordinary life into the Magical. The whole world is lit up with the fire of our passion and boldness. We come into contact with our inner power and it helps us transcend our perceived limitations and gifts us with an ecstatic experience of liberation. I hope "The Firebird and the Lynx" helps imbue you with the excitement and courage to awaken to your Soul's desires and ride the fiery waves of passion to your most aligned and magical life. "The Firebird and the Lynx" Art Print Release available through Oct. 27thavailable framed and hand-embellished with fluorescent inks
