What inspires me right now π β¨

Almost every day I walk to the ocean, listen to the waves crashing, see the sunlight flickering across the moving water and study the color palettes of the ever-changing sunsets. In awe of such beauty, I try to memorize the color gradients of the sky, different each day, soft orange into pale yellow into mint green into lavender into a faint cerulean blue that deepens into an electric blue with vibrant but light pink clouds. As an artist, I am always trying to memorize what I see and love. Yes, I snap pictures but the colors never match what my eyes see. The pics look lovely and help me remember but they do not sweep all my thoughts away and cause a shiver to run across my skin like the world does. I paint from my imagination but I feed my mind with sunsets, bearded irises, snapdragons, the neighborhood cats, the great horned owl in the star pine behind my apartment, the starry night sky, the deer peering out from behind a tree, a red crescent moon hanging just above the sea before dawn. The colors of the sky especially at sunset and sunrise captivate me. So often, I paint a world made of sunsets. βMy "Cloud Dragon" painting is definitely inspired by the colors of the sky. She is a creature born of the sunrise. She gives me that same sort of peaceful, quiet hope that enters my heart when I wait for the first light of day to pour over the horizon. She is mornings and new beginnings after the dark night. So if you need a dose of enchanted sunrise, I am offering prints of this painting through April 1st.β I will also be hand-embellishing the prints with the fluorescent pink and orange inks that I used in the original painting. The archival, thick, textured paper I use for the prints really resembles watercolor paper so my hand-embellished prints have fooled people visiting my studio into believing they were the original watercolor paintings. I am also offering the prints framed if you don't want any additional chores and want to be able to hang this magical Cloud Dragon as soon as it arrives at your home.
